I'm a long-time Japanese learner. Narelog grew out of looking up a word, saving it somewhere else, and still struggling to use it later.長年、日本語を学んできました。言葉を調べ、別のアプリに保存しても、実際に使う場面にはうまくつながらない。そんな学習の二度手間を減らしたいという思いから、Narelogは生まれました。

I design and test Narelog around the way people actually study Japanese. Each update starts with a specific learning problem and is checked against feedback from learners.日本語を学ぶ人が実際にどう使うかをもとに、Narelogの設計と検証を進めています。学習中の具体的な困りごとを起点に、使った人の声を確かめながら改善しています。

Learner problem学習者の課題
- Looking up words, reviewing them and practicing writing can involve several separate tools.言葉を調べ、復習し、文章を書くために、複数のツールを使い分けることがあります。
- Moving a word between them costs time and loses its context.ツール間で言葉を移すたびに、時間と文脈が失われる。
- Tools built around a test level don't fit what people actually read and write.試験レベル中心の設計は、実際に読み書きする内容と合わないことがある。

Design choices設計の判断
- Dictionary entries can be saved with notes into personal sets for review.辞書で調べた言葉をメモと一緒に自分のセットに保存し、復習できます。
- Several ways in — typing, photo, uncertain speech — one dictionary entry out.入力、写真、あいまいな音声と入口は複数、行き着く辞書項目はひとつ。
- Extra explanations when you ask, with furigana to help you read.さらに知りたいときに、読みを確かめられるふりがな付きの説明。
- JLPT as an optional reference, not the identity.JLPTは任意の目安にとどめる。

- Invite-only, early, stored locally in the browser招待制の初期版。データはブラウザに保存

What we're testingいま検証していること
- Does connected capture actually reduce re-entry?取り込みをつなげることで、入力し直しは本当に減るか。
- Which session lengths do people come back to?どのくらいの長さの学習なら続けやすいか。
- Does journal feedback surface gaps worth saving?日記のフィードバックは、保存する価値のある気づきを生むか。
- Are explanations useful at each level?説明は、それぞれのレベルで役に立つか。
The beta is early. There are no published results yet; these are open questions, not findings.ベータ版はまだ初期段階です。公開できる結果はまだなく、上記は検証中の問いです。
